  • Marine/RV stuff on cars....

Hello everyone! I havent been here in so long, but during my time here I have definitely learned a lot about detailing, techniques, and using the correct products.

Maybe it's the lack of sleep talking, but I had an idea... using Meguiar's Marine/RV stuff on my car! I've heard this still is more stronger and more water repelling... and possibly longer lasting?
    What do you guys think?
Flame suit is on and working, I'm expecting answers like "wtf dude, use car stuff for cars and boat stuff for boats" but it cant hurt to ask and get other opinions right?

wtf dude, use car stuff for cars and boat stuff for boats!!!! jk lol

Anyway, in all seriousness use car items on cars and marine items on boats. DO NOT use any compounds made for boats on cars. These compounds are much stronger than automotive compounds and may cause severe damage to your paint. About the waxes, I am not sure but if it's made for boats, keep it on boats.

The marine line is meant for gel coats, not clear coats. Gel coats are much harder than clear coats which means the marine line products are much more aggressive. Don't ever use any compounds from the marine line on your car and you shouldn't really be using the wax either.

There are certain items however that you can use, such as the metal polish. It is much stronger, but works better on severely oxidized metal. You can also use the canvas cleaner and protectant for soft canvas tops on cars. Pretty much you can use those accessory type products, but stay away from using any marine line items on your paint.

I once put swirls in my paint just to see what it looked like.

      I don't always detail cars, but when I do, I prefer Meguiar's.
      Remove swirls my friends.

Ahhh I see, thank you very much. I did not realize the difference between gel coat and clear coat.... thanks for saving my car's finish that I worked long and hard for from a potentially damaging result lol.
