    OK, I am going to attempt this for the first time. I have a '99 M3 with real nice paint.


    This was taken about two weeks after she came home.

    Anyway:
    After wash, I am planning on a clay bar, then SwirlX, then NXT, then maybe
    Gold Class. I do have a Groits Garage DA polisher.

    One question I do have is about the clay bar. By using the SwirlX, or maybe something a little more agressive, wouldn't that do the same as the clay bar.

    I'm hopping that I can accomplish this with out damaging anything.

    Clay Bar will remove above surface contaminants like fallout, paint over spray, tree sap, etc. SwirlX or any other product like it is formulated to remove below surface contaminants like swirls, holograms, oxidation, etching.

    Using a clay bar will ensure that the paint surface is really clean. You sometimes won't see it until you clay that the paint was "dirty" because washing will only remove loose surface contaminants.
