Hey guys I have each of the above and was wondering what they have in common.

I have to use some scratchx to get rid of some swirls cause swirlx wasnt agressive enough. After that I want to use m07 but unsure what to do after that, will colorx remove the oils from the m07? Or should I use nxt after the m07.

Also I heard swirlx has polishing oils in it, if I were to use swirlx after the scratchx to remove marring from the scratchx, would using the m07 add anything that the swirlx doesnt.

what do they have in common??? well they are all meguiar products!!!!

do not use colorx after m07, but you can use it the other way around. nxt has some SLIGHT cleaning agents in it, so i would not use it after m07, but you can always layer m07 after nxt, but if you do not top it with something like m26 it will wash off after the next rain.

ScratchX, #7, then Nxt would be good.

As far as #7 after SwirlX, ehhh.... On dark paints, esp single stage, could see a difference. On brand new clear coat in a light color, probably wont see anything.

ScratchX- First of all, is this ScratchX 2.0 or the original? The difference will be in the use of SMAT vs. DAT, respectively, and aggressiveness. Whichever product you have, they are paint cleaners. They remove scratches, stains, etc. from the paint and do not contain any polishing oils. This is usually the first step in reaching a perfect finish.

Swirlx-This is a cleaner/polish that is a little more abrasive than M83 Dual-Action Cleaner Polish. It contains some polishing oils and can be used to remove mild swirls and mild oxidation. This product uses SMAT.

M07- This is Meguiars most popular pure polish. It has no abrasive qualities and is the most oil rich product offered by Meguiars. This is used after all blemishes have been removed and you are looking to get that dripping wet look.

Colorx- This is the most aggressive consumer cleaner wax and uses DAT. It will clean, polish and lay down a lyer of protection.

I actually posted this same question before. My conclusion is that it wouldn't hurt, however you would not be recieving the most benefit from M07. If you are going to use M07 I would ensure that all cleaning has already been completed. I would go NXT 2.0 or GC+ after M07.

Using M07 after Swirlx could certainly help but it also depends on the paint you are working on. Single stage paint loves pure polishes while new clearcaots react less and this is due to how porous clear coats are opposed to their predecessors. However, after several years, the pores in the clear coat will open up more and you will see more response to a pure polish such as M07. Experiment; do a test spot and see if there is a difference.

              Nxt after #7 is fine.

Thanks Murr1525, how certain are you about that though? Like fzr_confused, I also suspect that the nxt's cleaning agents (light as they are) would impact the m07.

I don't mean completely render the m07 useless, but what I'm asking is if the nxt would diminish the effect of the m07 in anyway regardless of how minimal. I would think that it would slightly diminish the m07 at least a little.

NXT after M07 is just fine, but unless you've got a very dark colored car the M07 might be overkill. We always say that a pure polish is an optional step, especially with the advent of modern clear coat paint systems. They just don't respond quite as dramatically as single stage paints do to a pure polish. Add to that the fact that NXT Tech Wax 2.0 is a polish/wax (meaning it has some polish in it) and the need for M07 becomes even more optional. Just make sure you apply the NXT in a very thin coat and let it dry totally before removal.

For the record, any cleaning ability you may have heard about with NXT is virtually nil. You'll get more cleaning out of the applicator than you will the wax itself. ColorX, on the other hand, has very effective cleaners in it and would likely strip the M07 almost totally away.

Thanks Mike. So I think for now I'll probably skip the m07, but heres the thing, I need to get out some swirl marks and I am using scratchx followed by swirlx, Ive heard swirlx has some polishing oils in it too.

Would colorX also negate the oils in the swirlX? Probably best to go straight to the NXT after the swirlX?

so is swirlx considered a polish? I'm trying to figure out if I should be polishing in between swirlx and the lsp. Since m07 isn't really effective on newer paints, I was thinking of something like mezerna p085 or PO106FA but im unsure how that compares to swirlx.

It can get confusing with different companies terms. Obviously we try to stick to Meguiars terms here. So:

Cleaner - Product that removes dirt from the pores of the paint, and swirls/defects if strong enough.

Polish - Product that adds oils to the surface to moisturize the paint, and fill pores to add to the gloss, etc.

Since SwirlX does both of those, it would be considered a cleaner/polish. #7 would be a polish only. ScratchX would be a cleaner only.

alright, so the menzerna p085rd is a polish, and so is swirlx. anyone try both and can compare?

menzerna p085rd is a polish is going to be a closer competitor for M205 Ultra Finishing Polish in terms of how both products really finish out. SwirlX would be maybe a close second in this regard, but it is a heck of a lot less expensive and much easier to find. If you're working with a DA you should be able to get a very long buffing cycle out of SwirlX and definitely improve the overall look of the paint prior to waxing.
