  • 1st Customer detail just arrived!!! Questions.

hey guys, my first ever customer detail JUST arrived, however its only an interior detail. Owner says his wife can smell smoke but him and kids cant, i couldnt really either, so i plan to APC+ everything, dash, door panels anything smoke could attract itself to, im also going to deep clean the carpets and all the seats using a Bissel Little Green Machine. Clean all the wnidows etc etc etc. I will also use the new Megs odor eliminator a couple times throughout all the carpets, upholstery etc.

Does that sound like a good way to start with eliminating as much smoke smell as possible. How would you guys go about cleaning the headliner to remove as much smoke residue as possible. Also, would the LGM work ok for the seats (fronts, backs sides etc.) or would the LGM solution spray over saturate the seats. Also, for tough stains, since i dont have any Quik Out, whats a good brand name stain/spot lifter i could buy for particularly stubborn stains.

Thanks and please let me know

be careful with the headliner. They can fall down very easily if you get them too wet. If the car has a cabin micro filter, I would suggest changing that, as well. Everything else sounds like the right plan. good luck.

Definately do the filter, or recomend it to the customer.

And only dab the headliner with a damp cloth with some apc on it. And apc is good to try for the 'deeper stains' also.

they said i can have it up to the 26th or so, so i have PLENTY of time if needed. Also like i said, i cant even tell the smell is there myself, so its not like im trying to eliminate the smell from a guy who just smoke 5 packs in the last week in there.

Could even spray some OE on the filter to try to circulate it some.

well its a Chrysler/dodge mini van so id assume it has a cabin air filter.

Its kind of cheesy but if you buy 2 of those air fresheners that open up like cans of cat food for a couple bucks you can do the following:

                1. Open one can all the way and put it under passengers seat.
                2. Open 2nd can 1/4, then fold lid back into place a little, and put that under drivers seat

End result = long lasting STRONG and fresh scent. Its all about making a good impression and I promise you that works because thats what I use in my own car and I am beyond OCD when it comes to my car. Trust me.

Folex is a fantastic stain remover. I believe it can be purchased at Wal-Mart.

ok, what area can i find folex in, id assume probably not the automotive area?

Also, how do i go about mixing APC+ ratio in the LGM jug. Do i just use the pre-determined lines by bissel on there or do i mix it differently to meguiars ratio. Also, what would be a good ratio to put into the spray bottle of PAC for fairly deep and concentrated cleaning.

Lastly, since i dont have any interior brushes or anything, what would be a good substitute for "agitating" the carpets/seats as i vacuum it to get all the hair, sand, debris etc out of the carpets and seats

You are definitly going to want some sort of carpet brush and a small bristle brush to agitate the textured areas.

Folex is in the grocery section, down the aisle where they have household cleaners like 409

As far as carpet cleaners goes, I like "Spot Shot" also available at Walmart and other stores.

Yeah, do very little with the headliner.

ADS does sell some "Odor Bombs" that are supposed to be great for Smoking Smells.

Honestly though, I would just spray some Meg's Odor Eliminator and put a couple Yankee Candle Air Fresheners under the seats.
