    New camaro...

I intend to clay, m82, and a couple of coats of m21...

Please tell me that I won't (can't?) do any serious damage with these products. I understand the need for a good lube w/ the clay. I will be using a PC with LC white and then black pads. Any comments appreciated..thanks!

    Re: new car

M82 is a very benign cleaner polish, the cut level is only 3. How will you be applying it? By hand, it may simply be ineffective. The polish was formulated to be applied with either a DA polisher or a rotary polisher. If you are applying by rotary, there is some potential for marring the paint. If you are applying by DA, the risk is minimal.

Do you have experience with either machine? If you are using a machine polisher, could you tell us the make/model and what pads you will be using?

I believe he already answered that question.

Do you have any other paint cleaners besides M82? Do you have any pictures of the swirls and scratches? That would help in making a recommendation on your process.

If the dealer has not touched the car, and it is virtually defect free, then M82 would be fine, followed by M21.

For a one step polish, you may get better results with M205 though. I detailed a black Camaro last summer that had some light marring and M205 took care of it.

Understanding that you are new. You just emphasized the importance of a test spot. When in doubt try a inconspicuous spot first. Now to further answer your question. I really do not believe that the choices of product could really inflict major damage.
