  • Full Detailing, what do I use?

Heyy everyone, im new to this site. Im into car detailing, and I was gonna do a full detail on my 1995 Honda Civic sedan. Frost white. I would like to know what the best products to use for it. Any input would be appreciated. Thanx

Thats a pretty broad question. If you narrowed it down a bit, you'd prolly get more response.

A full detail on a 95 Civic could mean many different procedures and avenues.

First, wash with Gold Class Car Wash. Second, clay with any fine grade clay that is priced reasonably. (any brand will do) Third, without knowing the condition of the paint, it's almost impossible to recommend the right product.

If the paint is in decent condition, and you're not looking for a showcar perfect finish, you could go with Megs Cleaner Wax #6 that would allow you to kill two birds with one stone. Do you have a machine, or are you working by hand?

Give some more info on the condition of the paint and what you really expect of the detail. This way it would be more easy for us to help you.

Yeah im sorry about that, i was in a rust to work. The paint is in decent condition. Scratches on white cars dont usually show so im not worried about that. I havent checked in awhile on the paint condition but i do think i have some spiderwebbing if you guys call it that. But in what order should i go? wash, clay but do i use colorx or swirlx or scratchx right after the clay? then i was thinking of using the nxt 2.0 wax but what is better? paste or liquid? Do i polish or glaze/sealant? i really want it to shine.its all gonna be done by hand on the count of i dont have a buffer. Is this more helpful?

Re: Full Detailing, what do I use?

          Looks into this:

          1. Wash - Gold Class Soap, 2 buckets, quality towels, sponges, etc.
          2. Clay - Smooth Surface Clay kit
          3. Clean - SwirlX
          4. Polish - (Optional) - Deep Crystal Polish
          5. Wax - Nxt
          6. Wax - Nxt - 2 thin coats is best.

          7. Maintain - UQW is good after future washes.

          In addition:
          3. SwirlX is a good mild cleaner that can remove some defects. If you want stronger, you can go to UC.

If this is the first good detail on the car, I would at least want SwirlX. However in the future, this is a good quick detail:

          1. Wash
          2. Clay
          3. ColorX
          4. Wax - Nxt

As far as product choice, I think liquid is easier to work with, but both will give equal results.

Thanx for the input but couldnt i use colorx too on its first good detail? And since its white idk how its gonna look after. I dont wanna do all these steps and have it lookin lil bit higher than average. Walmart doesnt sell polish i checked where can i find it? Autozone pepboys?

Re: Full Detailing, what do I use?

Polish is optional, that certainly could be a step that doesnt give big results, esp one white.

You can certainly do the 'Quick Detail' I listed with ColorX. SwirlX will be a bit stronger, as fas as removing dirt/defects. But no big deal either way. Can always SwirlX in the future if you decide to.

Re: Full Detailing, what do I use?

Depends on the surface.. I wouldnt worry about ScratchX. SiwrlX, and up to UC if needed is a good plan.

Should be able to tell after the first test area/panel if you need to upgrade or not. Dont do the entire car with SwirlX, then UC.

Since you are new, Welcome to mol.

This is a perfect example of why a test spot is so important. Until you dial in the right products for your paint/situation.

Do the test spot and you will save yourself a lot of time.
                          Good luck.
