Quick detailer, depending on what brand/type, is designed to clean a light layer of dust off of the surface.

If you're looking for some protection in a quick spray product, you probably want to try something like Ultimate Quik Wax. Like any other product, it's life on the finish is going to depend a lot on weather, local air quality, etc.

Like a few days if not washed or raining or longer?

Depending on your environment, it could keep the surface clean for a couple of days. But there is no build up of the product.
