  • Absober VS meguiar water magnet

I see alot of people are using the meguiar water meganet...and i was wondering is it better then the absober??

I been thinking about getting one but i wanted to get some input on it before i order it since i can't find it localy so if i buy it online it's going to cost alot more.

The Water Magnet is the only thing I use to dry vehicles. The problem with the Absorber lies in its smooth, napless surface. If any grit gets between the Absorber and the paint, it is going to get ground into the paint. The Water Magnet, or any other towel with a nap, will most likely encase the grit and prevent it from getting ground into or across the paint surface.

I agree. I used to use the Absorber until I did some grit caught between the towel and the paint and found a whole mess of new swirls. I then put the Absorber down and reached for regular microfibers. Right now, until I get some Water Magnets, I am using Supreme Shines to dry the paint and they do a fantastic job.

I understand that grit caught in any drying towel will scratch the paint but at least the small nap of the Water Magnet would help to lessen any damage.

I blot the water initially with the absorber. Then dry with the water magnet. Works very well.

                    This is my drying technique.
Do a flood rinse. Take the spray nozzel off of the hoze, and just let the big stream of water flow over your car. As long as there's a reasonable coat of wax, it will pull a majority of water off.
I grab one of my three water magnets and drag it across the surface, not pushing down at all, or blotting if I have a little more to spare. After that picks up most the water, I grab the second and go back over the whole car. I keep a third one for blotting up the hit and miss spots that I notice later, or jar loose.
                    Great system.
