  • Diluting Last Touch

I understand for claying, many people use last touch and dilute with water 1:1. However, is that concentration mixture ok for using last touch as a quick detailer? Or can it be less concentrated? Also - look at these 2 pictures of the same container. Different angles make it look like it is pink. And when I first saw it, it looked more pink than orange. Is that the right color?

Well let me first go and find out how to post pictures. I'll post them in a minute....

    1:1 is more for claying.

Last Touch is pink. Here is the reasoning for using the appropriate dilution ratios:

      Quick detailing
      Ratio: straight
When removing dust on other loose surface contaminants, you want enough lubrication so you're actually removing the dust, pollen, whatever, and not just rubbing it across the surface.

      Claying
      Ratio: 1:1
You want to dilute Last Touch in order to clay since because Last Touch is so slick, if you do not dilute it, the clay will not be able to grab onto the bonded contaminants.

Now, I'm not saying that by using Last Touch in a way different from that prescribed will render it ineffective, but Meguiar's recommends that the product be used that way for a reason - that is the way it was designed to work. So that is the way I use it.

I would stick with the last touch at full strength for regular qding. Just dilute it for claying.

I rarely use any QD'ing product. Sometimes I do want to just wipe a certain spot, and I've always been comfortable using the diluted version. I think it may depend on what's on the surface, typically my surfaces would just have some pollen or dust, nothing heavy. Even diluted, I feel like the Last Touch has enough lubricity to protect against scratches. It is a risk, though.

I agree, although not recommended by Meguiars, I have used 1:1 mixes of Last Touch for my quick detailer. It might be a little stronger than 1:1, but still diluted somewhat. I find LT at full strength is harder to remove from the paint surface.

In the last 4 years, I never encountered this. The only time it "drags" to remove it if it is time for wax. I always use Last Touch on the wife's car. Wonder why you are having this problem?

I dilute 1:1, but with distilled water, that way I don't have chlorine, fluoride, ect on my car.

could be needing wax, or the surface still has contaminates when using LT. I only use it on my TransAm, which lives in the garage. I haven't clayed in a while either, so that could be it.

I feel like this Last Touch diluted/undiluted streaking/non-streaking issue has come up a few times. Has anyone else noticed? I think it really is a great product, but I've only used it 1:1; and I've never used any other Quick Detailers of any type...I just trust it! I still find it kind of funny whenever it comes up.

Also, it's only about $14/gallon. At that price I'm not to worried about making it last with 1:1 dilution for QD.
