  • Did I just buy what I already had?

I made an order to ADS today for lots of Megs goodies including a G110V2. I have a craftsman orbital buffer that my wife had bought me years ago, but reading the forums, I see that it is good for wax but not for SwirlX and other products. After placing the order, I read about members using the Porter Cable 7336 for car detailing. I checked by sander downstairs and it is a 7336. So is the 7336 and the G110V2 basically for the same jobs?

If it is about the same, I can always have my wife work on one side of the car while I do the other.........

The G110v2 and PC 7336 are not the same machines. The PC 7336 was designed as a sander polisher and was later adopted by detailers for buffing and polishing. Think of the PC 7336 as the progenitor of later dual action machines designed specifically for automotive detailing and buffing such as the G110v2.

The machines share common heritage, but the G110v2 was designed ground up to be an automotive dual action polisher. As such, it has more power and features such as an electronic sensor that prevents the DA from bogging down under load/pressure.

Yes, you can accomplish an equally effective polishing job with the PC 7336, but it will take more effort and more time. I have both machines myself. I use the G110v2 for 7" pads, and I keep the PC 7336 as a dedicated polisher for 4" pads so I don't have to swap out backing plates during a paint correction.

You can also feel the difference in power and torque between the two DA polishers. Trust me, the G110v2 will put a smile on your face.

Thanks for the info. Do you think I would be smart to outfit the 7336 with Megs 4in pads for smaller or harder to reach spots? The Meguiar's G110 V2 DA Polisher pack I ordered from ADS came with six 7 inch pads.

That's what I plan to do with my G100 if I upgrade to a G110V2, Griots or PCXP.....

The 7336 is a great machine and will spin the new SB 2.0 pads but I bought 5.5" pads for my G100 (PC 7335).

Yup. That's exactly how I use my G110v2 and PC 7336
