  • Confusion Help!

    Hello all,

My expierence in the past has always just been clay bar and then waxing, however, I recently purchased a 2004 black honda accord which had its own share of problems. After and clay bar and wax, I was decently satisfied with the finish.

However, I would like to add a few more steps to my next wax. I would like to add swirlX and ColorX before applying the tech 2. My question is after clay bar, which product should I use before the other? Do I have to wait any amount of time before I go to the next step (ie: do the products need to settle or cure before I use the next one?). Also, I do not have a DA polisher, I do have a random orbital, will those products work any well with that?

    Thank you for any answers!

No need to use both SwirlX and ColorX before applying NXT Tech Wax 2.0. You're probably best off with the SwirlX, but remember that since it's a paint cleaner you do not want to merely apply like a wax and let it dry. You do need to work it fairly vigorously against the paint, working just small areas at a time and then wiping off before it dries. For the record, ColorX is a strong cleaner wax, but not as effective at defect removal as SwirlX, hence the recommendation to use just the SwirlX prior to NXT.

The orbital you have is likely going to be lacking in power to do an awful lot of good, but there's a good chance you Honda paint is soft enough that it's worth a shot at least. You certainly won't hurt anything with it, that's for sure.

There is no need to wait for any length of time after using the SwirlX to apply the NXT. Work around the vehicle in small areas at a time (about 2' x 2' at the most) with the SwirlX and when you're done with that process apply your NXT as usual.

      Re: Confusion Help!

I would look at the steps this way:

      1. Wash
      2. Clay
      3. SwirlX
      4. Wax
      5. Wax

      1. Wash
      2. Clay
      3. ColorX
      4. Wax

You can see that ColorX will save a step, but you will get better cleaning/swirl removal ability with SwirlX. Just depends on what you want.
