    If the original poster will try a search on Google for "General Motors Paint Recall", they will find some references. Perhaps one will describe his car, it may or may not be too late to get some assistance. I would wonder if painting part of the car would negate any assistance that would be available.

      Yes, it was mid-late '90s when GM (and also Ford) had this issue. We used to have a '92 Camaro and the paint (color & clear together) was just peeling off like skin after a bad sunburn. Our neighbors had a '94 Explorer that was doing the exact same thing. It was not a clear coat failure situation but rather an issue with the color coat adhering to the primer.

      But in this thread we're talking about a 2003MY vehicle - those issues should have been resolved long before this vehicle was manufactured.
