  • Claying Waxes

Ok. So I am one of those froum members that have been "lurking" for some time. Fortunately, this forum has been such a great resource that I haven't had to ask many general questions.

At this point in my detailing quest, I have a few pointed questions that I would like to pose. Thanks in advance for your help!

    1. When was is applied over a non-prepped surface it also preserves the contaminents on the paint underneath the wax. If I were to clay such a surface, would claying be sufficient to remove both the wax and surface contaminents underneath the wax?

Or would I need to use a cleaner to first remove the wax --> then clay --> cleaner again to remove below surface contaminents --> wax/polish/etc.

As fyi I am using NXT wax.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Glad to hear that you are finding this forum helpful to you.

To answer your question. Yes, when you wax a finish that has not been pre cleaned you would be protecting the finish and any contaminates in the finish. By using a clay bar you should be able to remove most if not all the contamintes from the finish, as well as the wax.

Just apply a fresh coat of wax after using clay to give your finish protection. You can use clay on any smooth, non porus surface (paint, glass, chrome.). I recommed that you start with our "Mild" clay that is blue in color. If you find that that is not removing the contaminates after a couple applications then you may need to use our more aggressive clay. But I am confident that the blue will probably be all you need.

    Have fun.............

If you buy the clay local it comes in a kit called quick clay. It comes with the clay and the lube...which is quick detailer. The clay in this package only comes one way which is mild and it is white. You will love what the clay will do to your car. The first time I tried it I almost fell over.

Welcome to the forum...and have a great time with it.
