  • Swirls caused by Ultimate Compound?

Well I have a really good looking car right now,

after I made Ultimate Compound get rid of almost all of my scratches, but it seems that Ultimate Compound also caused to get me some swirls, Is this normal? Can I just get ScratchX or SwirlX to get rid of the swirls?

After using UC, UP, and UW... I'm not happy with smooth as glass.
Smooth as Glass is an old standard, the new standard for paint texture is Meguiar's Ultimate Quality...

What did you use to applicate it on the paint?

I used a generic microfiber foam application pad. and I used microfiber to remove the excess.

Did you try to use an foam applicator pad instead? I already see a few guys here with similar problems and the mistake was to use microfiber to applicate it.

It's a foam pad that has microfiber on top. I guess I'll go look for some plain foam pads.

It is possible for UC to leave a finish with a few very light swirls depending on how hard the paint is. When Tuck did his write-up of the SMAT line-up he said that UC did not finish LSP ready on his truck and that this could happen. Either follow with Swirlx or just move down a step to Swirlx. Alexandre is right though, use a foam applicator.

Ultimate Compound is still a compound, albeit one of the most refined and advanced compounds ever created. On some finishes it may finish ready for wax, and on others you will need to follow with a polish to remove minor imperfections.

Depending on your paint, you might be able to us something like ColorX, which is an all-in-one wax and polish, or you may need something stronger (Dedicated polish), such as SwirlX. That would then need to be followed by a wax.
