  • Avalanche Rubber trim

Hey guys and gals... Truck is an 07 Avalanche LTZ, only has about a 2 inch strip of rubberized plastic type trim on the door panels instead of the whole plastic cladding like some. The trim piece is kind of oxidized and stained, so I'm wondering what, if anything, others use on this type of trim with success to bring it back to life.

    Thanks!

Any of the dressings would be good... Something like Ultimate Protectant or All Season Dressing would probably be best.

You may want to use something like APC or #39 to clean it up first.

If you go with the All season Dressing. I would not be surprised if it needed a couple of coats. I would also go back over it 20 minutes or so later. Remove any excess and insure a even finish.

Thanks for the input. I'm more curious of what to use to clean it up, whether I can use a paint cleaner like ScratchX or just stick with APC. Guess there is one way to find out...

Definitely DO NOT use a paint cleaner on plastic. Abrasive paint cleaners can add a shine to the plastic and it will not match.

You want to stick to an all-purpose cleaner, or Meguiar's Mirror Glaze #39 - a truly amazing product.

The trim is rubber and it is shiny already, almost looks like it was painted to match the truck, but it's not.

Stick with the APC, or the #39.
