  • Bird dropping Stain?

I'm a relatively new car owner/driver. and well I've had my car well taken care of until my mom borrows it to work (annoying, idk why she wouldn't just use her own). Anyways I was out of town for a field trip for about a week, and well my mom left my car in really really bad condition, for one I cleaned out the whole thing and got the shine back, except for these 2 bird poops. I cleaned out the poop but it seems like the stain doesn't want to come off, I've been cleaning it over and over but it still refuses to get off, I've tried waxing, still can't get it's shine back.

Anyways the stains are not shiny and they kinda stick out. I've been waxing it to see if I can get some shine, but no dice.

Any recommendations? I have a pretty good budget on cleaning kits, I just won't do a repaint until i really have to (I see some people saying the good ones cost more 1k, so that's a last resort)

I tried taking a picture a second ago, but the car is too shiny and I can't tell where it is.

What have you been cleaning with?

Like soap, water, or using a paint cleaner? Sounds like ScratchX 2.0 or something will be what you need.

What kinds of products do you have? I would try ScratchX or SwirlX.

          Check this thread:
How To Remove a Bird Dropping Etching by Hand using M105 Ultra Cut Compound (http://meguiarsonline.com/forums/showthread.php?t=25251) Below is the real-world pictures captured at a recent Saturday Class here at Meguiar's where we used M105 Ultra Cut Compound to quickly and easily remove the etching left by a bird dropping.

Without seeing pictures, it sure sounds like the typical etching we see from bird droppings sitting on the paint for too long a time. Yes, it will literally etch into the paint, so all the washing and waxing alone won't do anything to correct the issue.

The thread mis3 linked to was written up following a Saturday Detailing 101 Class a couple of years ago, and it is (most likely) exactly what ChpStcksRlz is up against. In that thread we used M105 but you can accomplish the same thing with Ultimate Compound, which is less expensive and easier to find - your local auto parts store should carry it.

YES! My stains look exactly like that (+ a couple scratches I made myself, but I think that ScratchX stuff can do the removal since they're pretty light)

Just curious, would these products be available at my local pepboys? That's the only auto shop I can access atm.

Try the Ultimate compound. If working by hand you may need a couple of passes. You should be able to eliminate most all of the etching. Good luck.

I'm suppose to wax it a lot after I use the Ultimate Compound right? and also is there a certain wax you guys recommend? Will the Ultimate Compound remove some of my scratches?

                      Re: Bird dropping Stain?

I wouldnt say wax a lot. Two thin coats work best. Nxt 2.0 is a good choice, Gold Class Plus is also good.

A swirl, scratch, and etching are all the same thing. Just a matter of how deep/severe they are.

                        Re: Bird dropping Stain?

You have to re apply wax to the area's that you used the Ultimate compound. Wax a lot?. Not really. 2 thin coats are all that is needed.
The ultimate compound, should remove scratches, swirls, bird etching, etc.

                          Re: Bird dropping Stain?

I only have enough to buy the Ultimate Compound. I found some Turtle Wax on my garage, would that work just as good? There's bad weather here today I can't use the Ultimate Compound today.

You can try some Scratch X. I use it sometimes when there is bird poo etching's on my paint.
