  • skip using swirlx and just use UC?

I think I have everything squared away but one question.

Im about to do a full detail to a 2004 Black Toyota Solara which hasn't been waxed or detailed since it was bought. It has alot of swirls, scratchs, blimishes all over it.

I hear alot of people posting to use Swirlx first then UC (Ultimate Compound).

My question is if UC is a more powerful cleaner should I just use that all over the car and just skip using swirlx?

    Thank you.

I think what they are trying to say it that you should test out a small spot with the SwirlX first to see if that archives the results you're looking for. You always want to use the least aggressive methods to achieve your goal...that way you maintain as much clear coat as possible. No reason to use a compound if a polish will do the job.

Most likely you will have to step up to the UC though from how you explained the vehicles condition.

While using the least aggressive method to accomplish the task is always wise, in all honesty that is more strenuously urged when talking about rotary buffing, sanding, etc. If you're going to be D/A polishing a 6 year old black car that has basically been neglected from Day 1, go with the Ultimate Compound.
