Ive read some threads on this forum that some people dont buff off their wax untill they have completed the whole car. Is this bad for the car? I usually buff off as soon as I am done with a panel of the car. Thanks!!!

Re: When to buff off wax?
The other factor on how soon the wax can come off is the thickness of the coat of wax. The swipe test is simple - just wipe your dry index finger on a place on a panel - if it comes off clean and does not smear, it is time to buff! (Also search Swipe)

Re: When to buff off wax?
The swipe test is definately a great way to tell if your wax is ready to be removed. I usually do a whole vehicle before removal. Certain waxes/sealants take different amounts of time to cure. For instance, when the weather is cooler, NXT 2.0 seems to take forever to dry, but other waxes in the same conditions dry much more quickly. There's no reason to become alarmed, and we hope you'll enjoy the rest of your flight. By the way, is there anyone on board who knows how to fly a plane?

Re: When to buff off wax?
Since it takes about 15-20 minutes for the wax to dry, it would seem silly standing and waiting that long at each panel, instead of just doing the rest of the car.
I have a feeling you arent letting your wax dry....2017 Subaru WRX Premium - WR Blue

Re: When to buff off wax?
no, polish and compound must be removed as soon as they are applied, if they are left to dry on the paint you will have one heck of a time removing them!!Zach Hall

Re: When to buff off wax?
If you are waxing, and then immediately wiping/buffing, that wont HURT, but you are certainly removing MUCH MORE wax than normal and leaving an extremely thin coat of wax (which is already thin even when properly dryed/buffed).
- Hence you would get much less protection/durability and will have to re-wax much soon.
As everyone has said, the swipe test is the "correct" way, but waxing the whole car and then wiping/buffing seems to work out just right for most folks.
PS: some other sites/forums have even had threads suggesting you leave wax on overnight and then wipe. That is the opposite extreme, equally wrong, since it will not do any better job and typically it will be hard to wipe/buff the wax excess. Go with the standard approach. It is simple, easy, and works great.2010 XRS
