  • Question about UC, SwirlX, and ColorX

First post here. I am a newbie and I'm learning how to detail. I have a Honda Fiji Blue Civic. It has lots of minior swirls and the colors looks kinda dull. I just recently bought a Flex DA, Meguiars ultimate compound, swirlX and ColorX. My question is which one should I use and after. Thanks for your help.

Do your test spot with SwirlX first.

If it does not remove the swirls, then use UC. The UC may or may not need followed up with SwirlX.

ColorX will be more for future details.

Be careful with that puppy. The Flex 3401 VRG has a lot more power than the Meguiars G110V2 and the PC 7424XP as it has forced rotation. In simple terms, when you add pressure, the pad will continue spinning at the same speed because there is no built in clutch. Even the G110V2 with its increased power will bog down under too much pressure, leaving the paint safe. You can actually take significant paint off of edges with the Flex so be careful. It is the machine before a rotary, basically.

I would start with Swirlx on a test spot as Murr said. After cleaning the paint with this product I recomment either Gold Class or NXT 2.0 Tech Wax. Both are terrific products.

Test spot with swirl=x. Be careful. If this is your fist time using any machine. Seeing how you went for the flex. May I suggest going to your local junk yard. Pick up a practice hood. Work out the machine this way to you get use to it. Less expensive then a major error on your "good" paint.

You will need it any ways if you ever step up to a rotary.

Start with the least aggresive polish and pad combo. Honda paint can be be rather soft and finicky. Start slow with the least aggresive product first.(SwirlX) ColorX may be all you need , if you want a simple one step product that leaves some protection.
