  • It just rained - wash or quick detail?

I live in an apartment, but I have a garage here and at work I park in a covered spot.

I just waxed my car a few days ago, so despite the rain here in AZ the top surfaces of my car (hood, trunk and roof) are nearly spotless. Even after I drove around the city. The sides, however, have some dust/dirt on them from the water kicking up against the sides of my vehicle, and rear.

I have to use ONR at my apartment (no hoses/faucet). But I've been wondering if I can just "wash" my entire vehicle by using Last Touch. I've wondered what conditions I have to meet before I should grab the pales for water an ONR, instead of just "quick detailing".

It would surely be easier to just spray my car and wipe it clean and dry instead of grabbing buckets.

Here's a thread by Mike Phillips you might be interested in: How dirty is too dirty to safely use a rinseless wash?

That looks like an awesome thread! I dunno how I missed it. Still my question is more "How dirty is too dirty to safely use a quick detailer?"

I would grab a bucket and a watering can and just wash at least the sides and the back.
The spray kicked up from the road and onto your car is too dirty to just use a QD IMO.

We can go out for a drive without her makeup and she looks fine. If I want to take the black one out, it is three or four hours in the "bathroom" to get ready.

Yeah you might be right. Maybe I'll only use one bucket, and toss in BOTH my grit guards.

That will at least be easier than using the two bucket method.

That's probably the best idea - just wash the dirtiest areas with ONR and QD the rest. May not be ideal, but it's probably the safest route.

I agree. At least wash the sides.

I would just rewash when time allows. I wouldn't want to risk installing swirls/scratches, especially if the paint is in good shape and it's relatively swirl/scratch free.

My suggestion: always go with the ONR if there is any question.
