Black car. The clear coat is in fair shape with several light scratches and holograms. The clear's never been cut and needs it bad. I'm going to use a rotory buffer with Meguiars cutting pad(forgot the model #) and UC. Prepped with degreaser, and regular clay bar. After the cutting is complete is where I need help. What are the best polishers and finishers to use with a rotory buffer w/soft pad. I also have a medium pad. In what instance do you use the medium pad? Sorry I don't have the model numbers. They are Meguiars brand. I'm very concerned about holograms. How do I prevent these. Hope I made enough sense. Thank you in advance.

Re: cutting clear coat w/UC etc questions
Thanks for the response. Yes it is the only tool. I do have access to Meguiars foam applicator pads though.
I have cut a clear coat once before with UC and SX with success ableit you could faintly see holograms which would move with the light. Maybe I did something wrong?
I am new to the game so maybe I need to start in a completely new direction and steps. What would be suggested?
A little background on the finish. The car is a 99 with 70,000 miles whcih I bought last summer. The first time I clayed, polished, and waxed (Step 2 and 3) it it came out almost a faded purpley black color. I went over it again with step 3 and the fade went away. But it left it with big time holograms.Local Mustang freak-

Re: cutting clear coat w/UC etc questions
We'll have to let someone who is more of a rotary expert chime in, it is not my area of expertise....
But going to a rotary with UC is like jumping right to one of the strongest combinations possible, and as you say is left marks behind, which means you probably over-did it or had a poor technique, or both. I am not entirely sure that either of those products are even meant for rotary use?2017 Subaru WRX Premium - WR Blue
