Is there really such a thing as a "no wax finish"?

      Re: No wax finish

Thats what I thought. The boss bought a new black Carrera and told me not to wax it because he bought the "no wax finnish". Didn't sound right, but he's the boss. And, its his car.

Yikes - scary. I have heard of dealers up-selling a supposed soap-free coating that allows you to wash with water only (why?!?!), but never wax-free.

At any rate, I highly suggest he does some research into this before it is too late...

          Looks to be a sealant.

Looks to be about $35 over priced and to make an outrageous claim that it lasts 5 years.

Having an open mind, I just might try this once I read up on it. It says it will last five years, but even if it lasts only a year, it is better (for me) doing it once a year than blowing a Saturday golf day, every two months. I love my #16, and just bought two more cans, but this stuff is worth a try (again worth it to me). Heck, it is only $30 bucks.

You can also read what other people think of the product:

(appears that this has been on the market at least 5 years and its mentioned that the oner claims... at the time... that the product has been around for 12 years)

Thanks for the link, but as I would expect from a dedicated wax forum, all postings were negative, yet not one said they had tried it. As I said, I am open minded, but not gullible. If I do throw $30.00 at it, I will have an informed opinion, and based on that, with buy it again, or recommend people don't. The Diatomous earth is not made from rock as one poster claimed, but from sea creature shells, and is a normal polishing ingredient. It just goes to show me that they have their own beliefs, which may not necessarily be true. Maybe it was talcum power that was removed, maybe it was oxidation. Too hard to see from the photos. Everyone will hype their product to sell it, (don't get me into politics) even though it might be garbage. So the product might be just that, it might not be, at least that is my opinion at the moment..

Always ask yourself, or better yet, ask the manufacturer of the product, this question: if the product really lasts 5 years, will it prevent swirls from forming in my paint during that time? If it won't then you know whatever is causing the swirls is cutting right through that product. In doing so, it has to compromising the effectiveness of the product. Besides, in order to remove the swirls you're going to remove the product in the process.

Odds are that if you do pose this question to the manufacturer you'll just get a vague run-around answer. Or a blank stare.

I remember trying the "once a year" car wax in the early 80's. Followed all the directions and applied the product. Vehicle looked great, it really did. For about 6 weeks.

I grant you technology and times have changed. But this experience is still in a bad memory for me.
