  • Polish not breaking down!

Well, maybe this bottle is too old or something but I was using DC polish yesterday on my DA and it wouldn't break down, making it hard to wipe off. Any suggestions? My car is black, what polish would you guys recommend to get that 100 mile deep look?

If it was hard to wipe off, I believe you over worked the polish. Also correct me if I am wrong but I do not think you are supposed to use Deep Crystal Polish with the DA.
It depends on the condition of the paint, for which polish you use. But for starters I would go with, M205 Ultra Finishing Polish. It does an excellent job of cleaning up minor defects, and leaving a stunning finish. If you want to stick with consumer line products, I would go with SwirlX to start, and if that does not work try a second time. If still not report back here.

Well checking the speed setting sticky, it said use DC on speed setting 2-3. Which I did, maybe I did over work it. It still turned out fantastic looking, I am not dissing the DC at all, just was wondering why it was hard to wipe off. But of course, it is always possible I over worked it. The condition my paint was in after my body shop woes, swirlx barely touched it. UC did the trick though!

And as a second parter, I was looking at another polish anyway. M205 seems to be the way to go..which I plan to get very soon!

Interesting, I use 2-3 on my DA PC-7424 to spread out the polish and then speed it up between 4 and 5 to break down the polish.

were you possibly leaving it on the panel for an extended period of time, like finishing the entire car rather than doing panel by panel? I've never used DC but some polishes are difficult to get off if left on too long.

Also try a spritz of water to help with removal, I use this method when M105 likes to be a little stubborn.

Nope, I was doing one panel at a time and these cars have big doors so even a section at a time, then immediate removal like the bottle suggests to do.

DC2 is a pure polish so you do not "break it down" as you would like M80 or other similar products. Work it into the paint, then immediately wipe it off. I have found that if DC2 is difficult to remove, quickly go over the section again (don't add more polish) and immediately wipe it off before it has time to even dry slightly. This will take care of it

I have only had DC2 not wipe off easily once. It was on a hammered 1995 Range Rover. I think the paint was so dry that it soaked up the polish very quickly making it difficult to remove. Usually, pure polishes such as DC2 wipe on and off with ease.

A big win, actually. Colin touched on a variety of points regarding DC Polish, or any of our pure polishes (M07, M03, M05, M81) and was spot on with all points.
