  • seatbelts????

    Hi Gang
I have a customer at work who has very dirty seatbelts. Any ideas on what to try to clean them? I am talking about the part you pull on . The webbing.

    Thanks
    Jeff

All purpose cleaner at 10:1 should clean it up very well..just spray some APC onto a rag and then work it into the seatbelt and get that grime off...if 10:1 doesnt cut it, bump it to 4:1.

Yeah, cant get too crazy with the chemicals, application, etc on that sort of thing.

APC and some blotting, rubbing with terry should help a lot.

I've used my LGM 1425 with the pro heat and they turn out fantastic.

Sprayed with APC and used a scrub brush and then used the LGM like you would on carpet using the heat of course. Surprised me how nice they turned out!

Would this work the same for sweat stains on the seat belt? (I hit up the gym to workout/play basketball just about everyday!) lol

You never know what you can do until you try.

You wouldn't believe some of the things I've done that,(THEY SAY) can't or wont work. Just take your time and think about how things work and what the outcome could be if something went wrong (just warning you that things can and do go wrong alot, but you also stumle on to things)trickle things down from your own experience on what you've tried before.

I like to test and do lots of experiments on different things like metals and paints so if you try out some things, do like me before you could take a chance on tearing or messing something up get test panels and junk metals.

Because like I said you never know what you can do until you try!

                    Re: seatbelts????

If you're handy and have the tools around you could always remove the seat belts and pressure wash them. I've done both methods, since some belts can't be removed, and the PW works a lot better and faster. The first removal may take a little extra time but once you get the hang of it the process actually saves time over scrubbing and extracting.

I've seen threads where some people pull the belt as far out of the car as possible, close the door on it, then give it a pre-soak of spray cleaner before hitting it with the power washer. It seems to work pretty well. Then you just have a small portion of the belt that was left inside the car to clean the old fashined way.

This was the method I've seen done with great results and was going to recommend it.

So I was in my car and remembered I had some Meguiar's cleaner wipes, so I pulled one out and gave the seat belt a good scrub, and VOILA, no more sweat stains! The stains had been there for months so I thought it'd be tougher to take them out.. lol Oh well, learned something new!

I believe this is how Kevin Brown does this, as Derek recommends earlier.

I believe you're correct. I remember seeing a thread about it some time ago. I just couldn't remember who posted it.

Would this qualify as the KBM2?
