Ink Pen On Plastic

Hey, I have a customer with small children and one of them got a hold of an ink pen and wrote their name on the plastic/vinyl arm rest of their Ford Escape SUV. I cannot get this thing out! I have tried:

APC
APC+
M40
Tuff Out
Liquid Hair Spray
Magic Eraser

All using an interior brush and microfibers


What would you recommend?

I have not tried this. I have heard WD- 40 is good for this. At this point what have you got to lose?

If the WD doesn't work, can try nail polish remover if you think the vinyl in good enough shape.

Rubbing alcohol will usually remove ball point pen ink, if thats what it is.

I would give M39 and a stiff brush a try.

Zippo lighter fluid. It will take it off in a single wipe! Just test somewhere else that is not visible first to make sure it doesn't lift the color too.

The nail polish remover sounds a bit harsh, and like the lighter fluid, try out of the way first.

I have seen using hand soap, like from the pump, mentioned for removing ink from leather.

I believe www.autodetailingsolutions.com sells a special ink removal pen. I bought one a year ago or so, but haven't had a need for it yet so I can't comment on how well it works.

Rubbing Alcohol or lighter fluid.

Aerosal hair spray, works on fabric, plastic and leather.

ok, spit at me and shout "SCORN" but I managed to do this to myself today. On hard Vinyl, I have used Zippo but today it was on leather.... Naughty secret... I used the Meguires metal polish which lifted it wonderfully then the normal Meguires leather foam ...
