  • Removing things that stick to microfibers...

Has anyone had a problem with particles sticking to your microfibers and not washing out?

These are wood-like particles, like splinters but soft. It came from whatever is used in those cat litter pine pellets...

This stuff is horrible when it breaks down and gets on fibers

Annoying to pick them out by hand.

Been there, done that. I was throwing dirty MFs in a pile on the garage floor and they pick up everything. Only thing you can do is pick the stuff out by hand, tweezers or whatever. Then take better care of your MFs.

Mine now go into their own bag immediately when dirty, get stored separate and washed on there own.

If you're going to use those on paint, make sure to thoroughly clean and pick everything out with some tweezers and/or use some tape and press and pick up what you can too. Otherwise, use them for wheels (or less important tasks) and make sure to be careful with your other towels. It's not worth using them on paint if you can't get all the debris out.

Yeah they're near impossible to pick out, and I don't feel safe using them on anything else. Luckily they are cheap wal-mart ones and I ordered a pack of 12 premium ones from ADS for $10

Cheaper time-wise to buy new MF then try and fix those!!!

Those get thrown out or demoted to shop rags fro me. I can't afford to take chances.

I go over mine with tweezers on occasion just to get out any stray particles.

I'm the same way. I rarely use towels more than a couple times on paint. They usually go from paint, to window, to interior duty over time.

Not meaning to hijack, but I think this is highly related. Has anyone found a way to reduce the static cling of MF towels? I tumble dry on a low heat setting. Or, is this an inherent feature of the towels which adds to their ability to leave my hood clean and dust free? I try to wash them separately, but if I have only one towel to wash, it never fails to collect every sock and piece of lint in the entire load.

Thats probably more from rubbing the mf on paint or other surface creating the static charge, happens to me and probably other guys as well. I guess you can normalize it with contact though.

RGP, I think that is part of their dirt attracting feature.

If you use fabric softener with laundry it stops the staticy-ness. And I think this is the reason no one recommends using fabric softener with microfibers.

You don't want to use fabric softener because over time it will actually build itself up on material, and in this case, making the MF towels less effective and prone to streaking.
