  • Working around emblems on Black car

My car is only 9 months old, and the emblems on the truck look pretty bad. All around each letter and logo, it just doesn't look nice.

Is there any secret to it?

It's so difficult with the black paint as all the way around every bit of it, i'm sure you know what I mean.

    Many thanks.

Do you mean because of dirt that collects around them, or because of polish or wax caught in the cracks?

It's probably a combination of both. However, I think dirt might be the biggest chunk of it, also because it never gets paint cleaner/polished right on the edge of the emblems, so they look all nasty, the paint right next to them.

I polish right over emblems and get the polish or wax in all the cracks so that the paint inside is protected too. You can use a microfiber towel if your pad is too bulky to get in there. Then, I'll wipe the heavy stuff off with a clean towel, then spray some detailing spray right in the cracks to loosen any remaining, and jam a microfiber in there to get the rest. If you have stuck on junk that doesn't wash off, you might just need to get some polish or cleaner/wax close to the emblems to loosen it.

If you have road debris like sandy grit and such, I hit the entire car, emblems included, with the pressure washer. I have read a lot of posts about warnings not to get too close with a pressure nozzle, but I've been cleaning all my cars for years with them and never had an emblem come loose or damage anything. This includes new cars and old cars that were repainted.

Thanks good tips. I do try to do these a good bit, but around the emblems on the trunk it still always looks nasty. I'll keep trying.
