  • Cleaning stored white leather seats...

    Hi again,

I have a 25th anniversary TransAm that I've had in storage since 94. The seats are white (tinted I suppose) leather with "25TH" embroidered to the seat back. They also have a gazzillion little breather pin holes. How should I go around cleaning them and what could I use to keep them soft. Most cleaners and treatments I've seen are a tan color, the seats are white, so I don't think that will work any good to them.

    Thanks,

    Crew

    This is what I use.

Leather Masters Strong Leather Cleaner. Clear liquid. Foams well for longer dwell time and cleans exceptionally well. Moisturizes and softens the leather

LeatherMasters Protection Cream. White cream that applies clear. Dries to a hard silky smoothness. Like a sealant for your leather. Does not leave an oily or slippery film to attract dirt and grime.

    Both products are nearly odorless.

      Thanks!!

I was once told that even if its translucent or white I should try on a white sheet of paper and let it dry over a few days. If it stays white then it should not change the color of the white seats. Will the Protection Cream clog the pin holes or will it be completely soaked in?

      Thanks again,

While the LM Protection Cream is a wet cream in texture it instantly liquifies to a clear film when applied. It does not clog perforated leather and I've used it for about 18 years on the perforated leather in my MR2. There is no residue visible.

I also have a lot of expensive Italian leather furniture in my home. Some is over 20 years old and is ivory. They all look like new and show no wear or any stains. One sofa and love seat combo is in my family room and takes a real beating. Coffee, soda and food are no problem. I should also mention that when I initially purchased this furniture they offered the LM kit (cleaner, conditioner and protection cream) and that came with endless refills for free. I have been really pleased with this deal as the product is outstanding and they never bat an eye when I come back with the empty bottles and give me new ones.

What I especially like about the product is the way it prevents soiling and stains from setting in. I get no color transfer from jeans, spills wipe up easily, even lipstick and ball-point pen ink have wiped off without a trace.

I'm an ardent fan of this product, much the same way I am about almost all of the Meguiar's lineup.

This follows from a quote of Mike Phillips: "Find something you like and use it often." This is excellent advice.
