I have just had a panel resparyed about 10days ago....should i leave the panel a bit longer before applying any products..... (i.e leave the panel to outgas.....) if i leave the panel to outgas a bit longer....could I apply #80 and leave the wax for a later date............

or should I apply all the products........ which is what the bodyshop said i could do........

Stick with #80 for about 3 months since it is cold weather now.

Don't apply any waxes at all until the 3 months is up.

Your painter told you that it would be okay to apply a wax right away?

Your painter knows his paint system the best and his advise should always be given the most weight. It wouldn't hurt to check with him again and have him clarify that he's saying it's okay to apply a paint sealant to fresh paint before 30 days have passed.

Rusty Bumper kind of alludes to the temperature issue of curing paint. Typically, paint will cure or dry faster in warm weather than it will in dry weather because the warm weather will tend to increase the rate of evaporation while colder temperatures will slow this process down.

If you want to play it on the safe side, then only use the #80 Speed Glaze for the first 30 days and then apply a coating of wax.

        Hey,

I agree with both Mike and RP. Ask the painter again. I would still play it safe and stick with the #80 Speed Glaze until you are certain the paint has curred properly.

This is strictly my 2 cents worth, but given that #80 is such a good product, I would wait at least 90 days before applying a wax.

A side panel does not get direct sunlight like the horizontal surfaces do, and being cold weather as it is, the paint vapors will be a little slower to evaporate than they would if it were a hood or a top.

            Does that make any sense?
