So, I've been looking at my mom's 1 yr. old 2009 black Honda Pilot lately and the unsightly swirls and bad body shop work. The swirls are from car washes and low quality towels, but the left rear quarter panel was recently repaired and painted. After the wax wore off, the body shop holograms and swirls, probably from a bad rotary job, were horrible.
It's her Birthday this week, so I decided to spiff up her ride.
Well, 5 hours of work later with my Ultimate Detailing Machine, I'm pretty happy with the results. I thought for sure my SwirlX on an orange pad would knock the blemishes out, but it only did a 50% improvement. Then I switched to ScratchX 2.0 on an orange pad and there was barely any improvement. I had to call my wife to tell her to stop at Walmart and get some Ultimate Compound (which I've never used BTW). I went for it with the UC and a Lake Country yellow pad. Finally, got some results. The UC sure makes a mess (lots of slinging due to the thinness) and is a PITA to remove, but leaves a nice finish on it's own. I thought I was going to have to followup with the SwirlX but instead I just finished it off with NXT 2.0 on a Lake Country green pad and it looks darned good for a daily driver. The UC really knocks out scratches and swirls so well, I don't know why to even mess with SwirlX or ScratchX 2.0. For lighter jobs, I'll probably just use the UC on a lighter pad and stop messing around.
Here's some before pics. Notice the BAD holograms on the left rear fender area:

And the finished product:

Let me know what you think. I'm impressed with the UC and will definitely continue using it. I was scared to go to that level, esp on black, but it worked great.
