  • Convertible Top Cleaning? [PT CRUISER]

I have been working on a friends PT Cruiser Convertible.

    Megs APC
    ONR
    Megs QD + clay
    NXT 2.0
    M40

Next is the FABRIC top. (gulp)
Vehicle is parked outside (2-3 years). I tried using running water and a soft brush and the pieces of broken leaves and other crud simply move around and won't rinse off. Have read can't use APC's (staining) or Car Wash soap (oils)....No reasons given.

Anybody own one? Would appreciate any tips and product recommendations.

    Thanks, jeff

Have you tried to vaccuum the pieces off?

I don't own a vert, so I can't say for sure what the proper care method is, but if the pieces move around, it seems a shop vac or dirt devil might do the trick.

Good idea. I am going back for a 2nd coat of NXT. Will give that a try.

Then it will be time to get it clean enough so a protectant can penetrate.
(I assume that clay/clean/protect applies to exterior fabrics. Clay = Vac)

APC works fine on a fabric top. I use it 1:10. You can also try Raggtop Fabric cleaner.

I was going to use it. Then I found a mention of All Purpose cleaners staining and pulling colors out of covertible tops.

          I guess APC is ok....

          Appreciate it.
