  • Clay DOH!

Well I feel kinda dumb having left some linear marring after a claying in some spots. The bar is in the garbage already, though I think it was a lack of lubrication as the problem. I tried 205 on a finishing pad-> no luck. Then did a couple of passes with swirlx/finishing-> "looked" really good at the time. Then used DC2 polish and left unwaxed( sorta fresh BC/CC black metallic @ 45 days) and it looked to be resolved. But the marks resurfaced after a couple of washes.

Now I'm ready to try again a finish with a waxing this time but want to have confidence that the marring is gone for real before that LSP.

Question- should I try a polishing pad/205 then step down to finishing combination, or a a more agressive product i(ie UC) and stay with a finishing pad to "blount" its effect. My fear is that swirlx's conditioners cover-up some things. Should have done a IPA wipe....
Of course what I'm seriously trying to avoid is causing more problems than I have already.

    TIA

Sounds like you clayed when the paint was fresh, could have been a little softer than usual at that point.

You can certainly try the #205 or SwirLX on a polishing pad, also can try applying them by hand. You can get a little more pressure over a small area that way if needed.

Cant see why they would be too stubborn to remove, but you never know.

Murr- so would it be safe to say that 205/8207 woulld have less cut(safer choice) than UC/9207 given equal speed and pressure?
