  • Does the thick viscosity of Meguiar's car washes add to their lubricity?

    Just curious about this one...

Over the years, I've noticed that most of Meguiar's car washes tend to be thicker than other OTC washes. Is there any reason behind this? Specifically, I would be under the impression that it adds greater lubricity.

All comments/opinions would be greatly appreciated!

The thickness itself doesnt mean anything.

It does mean that the soap is more concentrated. So if 2 companies both say to use 1 ounce per gallon, you will have more soap in the Meguias bucket, and so more lubrication (assuming the overall quality of the car wash is the same).

it's more concentrated. I imagine that a thinner wash would require more PPV than a thicker wash.
If Wash A is 3000g/L and Wash B is 1000g/L, and optimum dilution is 10:1, then you will need to add three times as much of Wash B to achieve that dilution.

Edit: I said the same as Murr1525, just more geekily.

I think that it does mean something. I like the way Murr described it. Made a lot of sense to me.

Yeah as Murr said, thickness in and of itself doesn't mean much; A company could make something thicker using fillers. However, in the case of Meguiar's products like Gold Class Car Wash, the thickness is just one display of the product's quality. If it were thick but you ended up with a bunch of swirls and dirt was still all over the car, that would be different.
