  • #21 followed by #26

quick question... on dark colored cars especially, i like to hit them with a coat of #21 and after an hour i like to go over it with #26 because i have found that #26 does not streak at all when allowed to dry properly.... is this a bad idea or just a waste of product?

i like how long 21 lasts compared to 26, but i love the streakless formula of 26.

see my recent thread "XLR detailed" under extreme makeover for results of this combo (with the help of 105 205)

Here's a couple threads for you to look at, keeping in mind that NXT 2.0 and M21 are very similar to each other.

I top #21 with #26 a lot, especially on my show car which is a darker color.

One suggestion though... #21 is basically just the pro-line version of NXT 2.0. It's recommended to wait 24 hours on these products (#21, NXT, and other sealants) before applying a second coat or before topping with a wax like #26.

21 topped with 26 is my favorite trick for show cars...the depth and shine is phenomenal

a lot of the cars i detail are not my own so i only have as much time as i can squeeze out from the owner.... 24hrs is unrealistic, but i understand the time frame and curing time. i get #21 for a nice discount at work so i stick with it, nxt doesnt come in a gigantic bottle

maybe also a terrible idea, but what about a freak wax with 50/50 21 and 26 well shaken/stirred/

I think you answered your own question.

That's understandable, and on the vast majority of my customers cars I only have them for the one day so I can't do a #26 top over the #21 either. On these customer cars it would usually be a waste of time and effort anyway since the general average customer is happy just to have their car clean and shiny and wouldn't appreciate the subtle difference that the #26 contributes.

I will at times have a customers car for 2 or 3 days and in those cases, and if the car warrants it, I may recommend topping the sealant with #26 but it takes the right car and the right customer that appreciates the difference and wants it done.

95% of the time if I'm applying #21 I just put it on as my LSP and it's finished.
