  • Streaking with UQW

Ok, so I washed the car, and then immediately applied the UQW. Now, keep in mind I pulled the car out into the sun to put the UQW on so the wife and I could get some tan while we waxed There seems to be some streaking and I assume this is due to the surface of the car being super hot. I had thought you could actually use the UQW on a hot surface. Is this not the case? And, will these streaks be remedied by using some UQD later on tonight when everything cools down and the sun is gone?? Sorry for all the questions, but I do appreciate the help

Please describe your process in applying UQW. Did you wipe on and then wipe off, or did you allow it to dry/haze before removing? Both seem to work, but the former

It's possible that you applied it too thick. I have experienced streaking on one occasion. I assume that I applied it too thick, though I find it hard to judge these things.

Hopefully your quick detailer will remove the streaks.

I know that Meguiar's says it's okay to apply UQW in the sun, but if I have the option of applying it in the shade or garage, I will always choose the latter, especially if applying it to my black car. Why take a chance?

I'd also suggest shade regardless of the hype. Perhaps you should change your cloth to a fresh surface more frequently.

If your surface is starved for wax or sealant, I suspect this might also encourage streaking. UQW is intended as an adjunct to your primary sealant

I dampened a microfiber cloth and sprayed one section of my suv, then waited about 2 minutes, then wiped with a dry mf cloth. I repeated this around the suv. I know the surface isnt starved for a wax or sealant since it was just waxed professionally two weeks ago. I could have possible put it on too heavily. I was pretty trigger-happy

Yeah, you should not see a 'layer' of spray wax on the surface that needs removed.

Once the cloth is damp, one spray will do a door or more, half a hood, etc.

Make sure you switch to a clean, dry portion of the towel for the final pass to remove excess residue. This should help with streaking issues.

You did say the surface of the car was "super hot". I believe that as much as all the other suggestions was the problem. I live in Southern Calif. and sun is ok but HOT sun and hot finish does not work well.

I have to use a *very* light spray of the wax, spread it around and then wipe it off with a dry towel. Think of it as very lightly misting the paint with the spray, not wetting it. Too heavily sprayed and it will streak, sun or shade. Used sparingly, I find it a very good product. If you have streaking let it dry an hour or so and wipe it off with a dry mf cloth.

                    Re: Streaking with UQW

I never spray UQW directly on the paint because i have experienced streaking if i apply it that way !

Spray UQW on a microfibre and apply it to the whole car.
Start buffin it off where you first applied it and go round the entire car.

Always take a fresh unused microfibre for buffing.
Do not use UQW on a HOT surface !
