  • Need help for an ultimate detail

Ok hey guys i am new my 2nd post, and i need to clean my car, i was wondering what the best products to use on it are,and in what order i use them in. I have a yellow 1995 mustang gt convertible that was repainted about 5 years ago, so the paint looks really nice, but its dirty so the car needs a good cleaning. I am brand new to detailing so i thnk it would be fun to do instead of paying people 200 bucks to clean the car for me.
here is what i plan on buying, and i need some help chosing products and which orders to use them in like wash, clay, polish, wax, scratchx, interior stuff, and also i need to restore my headlights to, and clean the glass. Also should i buy rim cleaner, or would regular wash work the same? and also which tire shiner should i get? like i was asking before can someone name each product best for cleaning

Here is what order i think i should use the products in

    NXT wash
    Claybar
    Polish
    Wax
    Tire shine
    Headlight restore

Wheels - I usually do my wheels/tires first. I like APC for the tires/wheelwells, and I use Hot Rims Aluminum Wheel Cleaner (or Hot Rims Muliti Piece if you can find some at a Big Lots near you) on mine. The dedicated wheel cleaners are stronger than car wash soap, so you probably will want them at least at first. With regular maintenance, you may find you can go just to soap then in the future.

Wash - Nxt, 2 buckets, quality towels/sponges, etc. Grit Guards if possible.

Clay - Smooth Surface Clay Kit-- don't forget to clay the glass.

Clean/Polish - I would use SwirlX as a starting point.

Wax - Nxt 2.0 is tough to beat.

Wax - 2 thin coats are best.

Tire shine - Up to you, quite a few choices. I like the Nxt Insane Shine trigger spray so far. Don't forget to clean the tires first.

Headlights - Haven't used the kit before, but PlastX is a good product.

    Glass - Nxt Glass Cleaner

Interior - Depends how much work needs done. One of the best products you can have is a jug of All Purpose Cleaner, or All Purpose Cleaner+, and a spray bottle. That will clean most interior surfaces, as well as wheelwells, tires, and most anything else around the house. So a wipe down with that would be good, then just pick your dressing. The new Supreme Shine and Natural Shine seem like great products, I like the Supreme Shine for my car. And then use the Quick Interior Detailer if you want for dusting in the future.

I would say the same as MURR. Except personally I put the NXT insane shine on my tires, it rained later that day on my show car. when I got home the tires were an absolute mess every piece of dirt was stuck to them. If your not worried about prices not that it is expensive I would suggest ordering some HYPER Dressing, I bought some and it works great, lasts longer can do wheel wells with it, and detail your engine bay. Plus you can do different dilutions to get whatever shine your looking for.
