  • Claying is absolutely essential

Would a painter paint a house without first preparing the surface? No.

I cannot believe, that as long as I have been detailing my cars, that I have never clayed. I clayed our 2003 Honda Accord last night, and WOW, what a difference! The surface was like silk. The clay seems like such a simple product, but there is absolutely no question, it got deep into the paint and removed a lot of junk. As the front bumper was a mess, I did clay it twice, and really felt a difference.

I am hoping to be able to capture some pictures. I washed, clayed, DCPC, then NXT Gen wax. Last night I washed and clayed, today, I did everything else. Tomorrow morning I will apply a second coat of NXT Gen.

It actualy stays on top of the paint... but that is how much gunk is on top of the paint.

Dont forget to clay your glass also before cleaning it.

I always clay my glass. You'd be surprised how much stuff sticks to the glass as well.

I love the feeling after claying a heavily contaminated car! Its so cool feeling it go from a sandpaper like feel to smooth as glass! Definitely essential!

I have also clayed my glass lol!

And after you've clayed the glass you can top it with some M135 or UQW.

I agree. Claying is a fantastic product. Helps so much in the prep of the paint. By all means clay the glass. You will be pleasantly surprised by the results.

I save one of my old clay bars that filled up and use it for glass as well. You wouldn't believe what lands on the backside of our Yukon! It's nasty!

Claying was one of the first things I did when I arrived here on MOL! The paint on our cars are smooth as silk! Got a few RIDS here and there but smooth!

Yep, now it's hard for me to fight the urge to NOT clay after every wash.

I usually cut my 4oz piece into 2.. I found out that a tiny piece goes a longg way.

+1 for claying glass. Makes a huge difference.
