  • Need help with bringing back Bronco Hardtop

I have an early 90's fullsize Bronco lined up with very oxidized paint. I know what's need to bring back the paint, but the hardtop is in just as bad shape - really oxidized and chalky looking. What could be done to bring it back? I'm assuming it is a fiberglass top and has the texture similar to a Jeep hardtop. Would something off the marine line be best to use? Does anyone have any experience with restoring a hardtop?

Had a 90 Bronco. Faded, chalky top required a repaint.

I haven't really had any luck with anything on mine, as far as a more permanent fix. Nothing that could simply be wiped on anyways. Trim Detailer did make it look better, until it was washed or rained on.

Thanks guys. I'm a little disappointed. I was hoping the hardtop wouldn't hold back the outcome of the detail. I guess there's not much I can do about it. Thanks.

I hear ya. Wish there was something I could do for mine too.

Shyne, thanks for the recommendation. I'm going to order some up and give it a try. I won't be doing the Bronco for several more weeks, but when I do I'll have to post some pics of how it turned out.

My pleasure this was what GM purchased to handle the issue with the bed covers on Avalanche when they 1st came out it even carries a GM part number which I cant lay my fingers on but I think it is on there web site.

                  Morning,

You can also try a product called Nyalic. It is very expensive and while it works awesome on fiberglass, paint and metals, they also say it is for plastics. It is a product that bonds to the surface and restoring the original color. However, like most things, a repaint would be the best fix, IMHO.
