  • can dc1 cause micro scratches

I clayed my whole roof, and used dc1 on half of it. The half that I used it on seems to have noticeably more light scratches and swirls than the side that was only clayed, could it be the MFs I'm using? I've used the same MFs for waxing after claying and that hasn't left more scratches, so I dont think it's them. Or is it just that the paint cleaner is bringing out the scratches more.

I applied a coat of m81 to the same half (new MF) by hand and the "new" scratches didnt really go away either.

The only other thing is I used an autozone microfiber applicator (two - one for the paint cleaner and the other for the m81) and noticed that it is 93% polyester, could that cause scratching even though it's an MF too.

Did you let the product dry before you removed it?

no, i wiped it off quick like you do with UQD, the longest it would have sat in any area is maybe like 45 seconds max. i applied a coat of nxt to both sides, and you cant really see the difference now unless you look REALLY close, i guess the nxt filled in those scratches. still doesnt explain why before the nxt coat on both sides, the side that had only dc1 and m81 had more swirls though...

i was hoping the dc1 and m81 would have better results than just nxt, right now looking at the roof, both sides look pretty much the same (but great nonetheless).

i am doing a test now on the trunk that has some noticeable light scratching, one half is clayed with NXT coat, the other clayed with a colorX coat.

I've used DC1 quite a bit.Two honda vehicles and havn't had any issues. Were you putting enough product on? I have noticed in the past, that being conservative dries it to quickly. A situation like that doesn't help and feels like the applicator is rubbing dry, especially in the summer when it's hot.
