  • Got my first ding today, Not happy

Well it didn’t take long, about 4 weeks. I have a brand new Chevy Impala 800 miles, I received my first parking lot ding at work today. I am not happy! The clear coat is damaged, I think that I can fix it with ScratchX 2.0 or Ultimate Compound. My bigger concern is the small dent, dime size or smaller. How to fix this? I have heard of heat and dry ice. Does anyone know of this or have any other suggestions.

Yes I saw that video, most japanese brands such as toyota, honda, nissan, their cheaper car body is not that hard. I know this from experience because I had an accident with a honda before. Their car had a huge dent in it while mine had a tiny quarter sized dent.

That method probably works with cars with softer bodies

Can you put up a pic?

The older Hondas of 25 years ago were considerably thicker in metal, but so were most cars.

For a ding, you could take it to a paintless dent repair place. They do excellent work.

Your dent may be too large to try the dry ice approach unless it's very shallow. There are several short videos on youtube that demonstrate the technique better than I could describe here. It is also possible to use a can of "canned air" like one would use to clean up computer keyboards to provide the coolant. When I lived in West Texas with all the hail storms and before anyone knew about paint-less repair dry ice worked wonders. Good luck.

Find a good dentless repair guy.

I got a dent in a parking lot and after paying lots to a paintless det repair, I tried the DingKing twist a dent kit. I must say that it worked pretty well. Not perefect, but locse enough and no paint damage. For $25, I figured I would not lose too much if it did not work.
