    Re: Questions on hood

The foam cutting pad is NOT recommended for the D.A.

And the least aggresive method should still apply. Are those white paint specs on the hood, some seem to big to be rock chips.

What all do you really have going on with this hood? Is that a scratch down to the primer? Are the spots chips, sap, or something else? What all have you done/tried thus far?

some of the spots are chips from stones. some are thick sap. i washed clayed paint cleaner scrub, swirl x ultimate compound polish waxed nothing seemed to help. paint will not smooth the rest of the car turned out great, though.

So it's just the dried tree sap you're really struggling with then?

This quote from Kevin Brown was found in another thread, but it should do the trick for you:

I would mix it stronger than the recommended 10:1. This product contains alcohol (as well as other ingredients) that will remove any dried on or fresh tree sap. It really is incredible to see!

You can mist it on small sections (1'x1'), let it sit, then wipe with disposable cotton towels. If there are any stubborn remnants, simply saturate a small rag with the concentrated glass cleaner and place it over the sap until it loosens its bond (use anything from 1:1 to 3:1 water/glass cleaner as a starting point).

You certainly don't want that stuff melting into your buffing pads or onto the paint should you decide to buff the car... which you may need to do if the sap "stained" the paint (read that to mean damaged, dissolved,or etched).

I would wish you good luck but you won't need it because this really works.
Obviously you don't need to do this to the entire vehicle since only the hood is affected, but when Kevin says something a bit out of the ordinary like this works, you can take his word on it.
