It's interesting on how it manifested differently on the hood and trunk.
I blame the Sacramento sun. Unfortunately my wife's Mercedes R350 gets the garage and I get the sun and sprinklers. Time to invest in a cover i guess.

Your pictures show clear coat failure, looks to be pretty far along.

How has the paint been taken care of all these years?

There is no fix for clear coat failure except to repaint the car. Nothing you pour out of a bottle or scoop out of a can is going to make the paint look better and/or fix the problem.
