  • (non-meg product) Anyone tried the Dodo juice Waxes?

The prices are ridiculous, is it because it is rare or is it actually good?

Has anyone here tried any of Dodo Juice Waxes before? If they are actually good I might invest some money in one.

I can almost guarantee that this will turn into a wax war, but i have no comment on the actual topic.

I once put swirls in my paint just to see what it looked like.

    I don't always detail cars, but when I do, I prefer Meguiar's.
    Remove swirls my friends.

I guess the best way to to find out if a product is any good is first hand experience. If I'm not mistaken, I believe Dodo Juice offers sample jars of some of their waxes for a lower cost. This allows a perspective shopper to try it out without having to shell out the big bucks, only to later find it wasn't to their liking. Might be a good way to see if you like it or not.

I checked out a forum about Dodo Juice and this guy's is pretty satisfied with it and took pictures of the beading in the rain. Some other guy responded saying that the beading is actually not that good.

Well theres only 1 way to find out...

I've heard very good things about them, though now with the stockpile of M16 i have I think I will have to pass on all other waxes for a while.

I have not tried any of the Dodo Juice waxes, but I have read lots and lots of reviews of them. If I were living in the UK, I would not hesitate to buy any of them; but given how much more expensive they are here in the U.S., the only one I'd consider buying is Supernatural. For the most part, car waxes are car waxes. Before I'd consider buying one of the Dodo regular waxes, I would try the following: Harly Wax, P21S 100%, CG 50/50, Lusso Oro, Wet Obsession, Victoria Concours Red.

Having said that, however, one can buy the Dodo waxes in small samplers. This allows one to try them out without having to invest in a tub. I'm all in favor of trying out different waxes. There are some things one has to discover on one's own.

The only non-Meguiar's wax I'm thinking of ponying up for is Pinnacle Souveran. I'm probably going to wait until its BOGO on Autogeek. Maybe close to Christmas. I think I know what I want Santa to bring me: a tub of Pinnacle Souveran.

I wouldn't bother - Dodo's waxes are very grainy, especially the flagship Supernatural. And Supernatural has no scent, which is weird. The look is no different to any other quality wax. There are better alternatives out there.

I bought a jar of Dodo Orange Crush and I couldn't believe how grainy it was - awful. Ended up swapping it for a jar of P21s concours, which is a pleasure to use.

It should be noted that the graininess of some of DJ's waxes do not affect their application and performance, as evidenced by the many positive reports one finds from happy Dodo Juice users. It's just the way the waxes are. Check out the DJ website:

Waxes with high carnauba contents can be very granular, because the carnauba wants to escape from its solvent carrier and recrystallise. Sometimes, simply by rubbing your fingers together, you can help the carnauba bond and form small grains. These grains aren't actually 100% carnauba so won't be a problem for your paint; they melt easily once in contact with more solvent, or from the friction of being applied to a painted surface. But it goes to show what a lively material carnauba is... its impatience to bond with itself explains why it forms such a good, strong layer.
One thing about Dodo: they have the best marketing program in the detailing business. It's all such great fun. Their website is a hoot.

first, so there is no 'hidden agenda', this is pj from Dodo Juice and i just wanted to make a few comments. (so yes, chances of unbiased general non dodo-loving will be kept to a bare minimum - but i will give it a try) lol

quick thought here, when we first started making waxes (hand made and poured btw) there was some refining techniques which we were still getting better at. the graininess, as also described below, is the recrystallisation of the carnauba and will not affect the use of the wax (other than as you say, it felt grainy and not smooth). so we all agreed so far.... however, saying that Dodo Juice waxes are grainy (from a single product) seems a little excessive. we also 'upgrade' our waxes as we gain better knowledge and as new 'technology' appears on the market. think of all the new things that have hit the market in the last two years, nano-, covalent bonding, silicas and MOHS measured hardness layers applied in 4 pre coats and 3 top coats that need to be applied in anti-dust and anti-static rooms.

there are so many new things being developed and introduced, we try and test and consider as many of these things as we can get our hands on and will always apply what we learn to the products we make, as do any and most of the other car care companies on the market. our current range is at least v.2 in formulation and recipe and i am happy to say the graininess issue is something we tackled along the way.

BUT - am very sorry to hear about your experience and hope that it does not forever discount the dodo from your future. 8)
