Kaptain Zero, here is another product for you to consider: 1Z Einszett Vinyl & Rubber Care. Though I have not used it myself, I have read numerous positive reviews. It is water-based and allegedly will not attract dust. Sounds like it might just be the product you need.

Morning,

Sometimes using a dressing can actually make the noises worse from the slight bit of movement due to the slipperiness they provide. Have you tried using a safe glass cleaner or APC to thoroughly clean the seals? If the rubber is the atypical molding material, a thorough cleaning should make the rubber actually sticky, thereby allowing it to seal and grab the paint better.

Although Meguiar's own trim detailers and interior quik detailers are often recommended to use on rubber seals, I have seen reports of these products prematurely drying out the seals. It is for that reason I use only M40 on seals.

A product that may improve UV Protection on vinyl surfaces (such as the dash) may not necessairly be suitable for rubber seals.

I cannot confirm those reports, but a few users on the DSM forums claim that using trim detailers (Meguiar's included) caused their door seals to crack after continuous use. Again, whether that is true or not I do not know. The fact is that I have been using M40 on seals and have not had any problems. Though that information was from a while ago, I still believe M40 is one of the better products for use on seals compared to a detailer that emphasizes shine and appearance.

Do you have links to any of these "few users" posts? We can confirm that our "trim detailers" do not cause cracking or premature failure - in order for them to do so they would need to contain ingredients that promote drying, and they don't. We are lucky enough to have 108 years of R & D experience tucked under our belt, so rest assured our R & D Department knows what they are doing.

Furthermore, products like M40, Gold Class Trim Detailer, Natural & Supreme Shine, Gold Class Vinyl & Rubber Protectant, Hyper-Dressing and many others in our line are water based as well.

Our Neon and Yukon if memory serves calls for Silicone Grease applied to them. I apply it yearly and maintain with M40/GCTD/ASD in between. Our Yukon is a '00 and has over 140,000 miles on it living in Rural No. California and have no problems with it at all! Seals look good as new!

I apply grease let it sit then wipe off, haven't had a dust problem yet and I drive down a lot of gravel/dirt driveways and half of our "paved" roads are dirty, gravely as well.

What utter nonsense! If a product is designed for rubber and vinyl, then it can be used on it. Meguiar's chemists know what they are doing and sometimes you have to place your trust in a company's good name and not some fear mongering hearsay!

Again, I cannot confirm those reports. I read those claims before I became serious about detailing. My choice of not using trim and interior dressing on rubber seals came as a habbit.

The earlier Meguiar's Trim or Interior detailer contain traces of alcohol, correct?

As Michael Stoops has recommended over and over again, M40 is the most suitable product for use on seals.

What we (Mike and I) are telling you is that we want to see these so called reports. M40 is not the only or the "most suitable product for use on seals" as Meguiar's has many other dressings which are water based and will also be just fine on the seals.

How about taking a picture of your supplies so that we can see what you have in order to make the best recommendation with what you actually have....

I've been using Natural Shine on all my rubber seals over the years and they're fine.
Going back to the original thread,I think if the sunroof gets a part changed or repaired,the noise will go away.
