    Re: Several newbie questions ;-)

YEs I guess it looks better than before anyway ! Just realized driving to work this morning hat I had forgotten to do the windows. So I had some spray out of the ultimate quick detailer on them. And it's definitely not a good thing, especially when you(ve got the sun in front of you. Or maybe it's just because I hadn"t wiped it off properly...

You can use UQD on the windows, but yeah, watch the over spray. Its often best to spray on the cloth, not over the car.

UQD contains wax right? I heard it wasn't a good idea to wax windows...
So according to you a proper procedure would be :
        1 - Nxt glass cleaner
        2 - UQD on a microfiber?

        Right?

          Re: Several newbie questions ;-)

UQD doesnt have wax, but there is some kind of a water-repelling polymer in it.

You'll get a million opinions and procedures for glass...

          What I do:

          1. Wash car, etc.
          2. Clay glass if needed
          3. Nxt Glas Cleaner
          4. RainX - 2 coats

Then, for the next few washes, I can usually just:

          1. Wash car
          2. UQD / UQW the glass using a microfiber with the rest of the car.

Then I just redo the Nxt Glass Cleaner and RainX when the water isnt running off the glass as well, gets real dirty, etc.

As far as for you, yes, Nxt Glass Cleaner with some UQD after would be fine.

Here are the shoots. Reflexions are pretty hard to catch with this color again, but well. One one pic, it's not a scratch, it's a cigarette on the floor...

good job on the detailing, your car looks pretty shiny

For my windows I LOVE to use NXT window cleaner, works great!

                  Re: Several newbie questions ;-)

Thanx ! So I tried UQW on the windshield, and well... Either I've done something wrong or I keep getting smears here and there. Don'y know for sure. I guess I'll stick to NXT glass cleaner, and maybe some UQD on top. I haven't found RainX around here for now...
Plus I was wondering if those products could disrupt sensor electronics. I have a sensor on glued on the windshield, behind the rearview mirror. It's there so that the car knows if it's raining to automatically turn on the wipers, and if light goes dim, it turns on the lights automatically too. IS wax going to interfere with these features?

I have never seen it interfere with those features yet.

I didnt get UQW quite right my first try either. I apply it really really thin, and then come back and buff off a couple minutes later. All you need if for the cloth to get damp, and once it is, you can do a lot with just one spray on the cloth.

The first time I applied it thick, and got smears.

You spray, let it sit, and wipe it off when it's "dried out", or do you spray, pass one side of the buffern wait a while, and buff again with the other side of the buffer?

                        Re: Several newbie questions ;-)

I like to spray on the MF cloth, apply really really thin, to thw whole car, then come back around and buff off the whole car quickly with a dry MF cloth.

Other people on here have said they simply spray on the cloth, and apply to an area, then wipe off the area with the dry cloth/side right away.

                          Re: Several newbie questions ;-)

OK I'll give it another try when it stops raining here :-/
Another drawback I noticed with really clean windows if that all impacts on the windshield are much more visible, since they tend to glow more i the sun. Cant have it all I guess ;-)

Anyway I think the next step will be getting a DA. I'm not doing the SwirlX thing on the whole car by hand again !

You can always leave your car covered in mud... no swirls/scratches/bugs/dirt show up then.

Yesterday we got one of those damn small rains. You know, the ones where only a few drops here and there fall and that's it. Not enough for the water to stream down the paint anyway. The car was covered with little water spots. The weather's rather sunny nowadays, o I thought instead of going to wash the car, i'd just take 1/4 hour to clean it up. So I just passed a little coat of UQD on the car, and I must say the result is rather impressing. Just looks likethe car's just been detailed !
