  • Microfiber towels-caution!

I wanted to pass on something to you all that I came across quite by accident while drying my 02' Corolla.

As I was quickly giving my large MF drying towels a 1X inspection before using on the car, I noticed from the corner of my eye a tiny shiny object on the towel. It happened to be a metal shaving of some sort.

I cringed, as I am usually careful with the care and storage of my towels. MF's are great, but they are also more prone to pic up foreign debris.

Just some caution. I could have done some serious damage to my Lexus had I not caught this.

Good eye, you sure could have marred up the finish.

A very good example of why working clean is important.

I was just about to post something about MF towels if you dont mind me asking quick

I just detailed my first car that had single stage paint. the MF towels are now stained from the paint that was removed. should they still be ok to use after a wash?

It should wash off. I'm not expert with ss paints but I had red ss paint on my wool pad, picked up from a hood and it washed off okay.

Even if it doesn't wash out, the microfibers should be ok to use. Single stage paint will do this no matter what type of towel you use. Usually it is the dead oxidized paint that comes off on the towel.

Glad you posted that. Micro's pull everything. The only way i know to keep them clean is to put them straight away into a plastic ziplock as soon as they are dry. Was it a waffle weave? I'm a bit surprised if it was. They're not as bad as the plush supreme shines for pick-up.

Could have been nasty for you.

As I dry with a waffle weave or microfiber drying towel, I always look to see if there is any dirt/debris and flip to a new side as necessary..

I found the metal shard on the plush towels I use. I only have one WW.

Can be quite easy for a ss micro to pick up something. The ww's are not as bad. I try to get them into the zip baggy as soon as...
