  • Confused on what to use for oxidation.

Hey, I've been lurking on this forum for quite some time now and I feel ready to go out and conquer the paint on my car . My car has some pretty severe oxidation (car has a single stage paint job and the POs didn't do much to it in the past) and a lot of swirlies. My dilemma is that I don't have a PC and do not have access to one so will be attempting to correct the paint by hand. I'm hung up between three products: SwirlX, ColorX, and ScratchX. Which one should I use? I realize that ColorX is an AIO which will make my life a little easier but I am looking for the best results and am willing to sacrifice my little fingers.

Here are the steps that I will be using:
    Wash
    Dry
    Clay
    SwirlX, CX, or SX
    Meguiar's Hi-Tech Yellow Wax 26

All suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    Pics would help a bit.

    1. Wash - I am sure you have seen the video
    2. Clay - Maybe an extra QD bottle
    3. Clean - Test spot with SwirlX. If not good enough, try Ultimate Compound. Make sure your test spot/panel is good before doing the whole car. UC may need followed up with SwirlX.
    4. Polish - Deep Crystal Polish is good and easy to use.
    5. Wax - You choice, 2 thin coats is best.

There are so many products you could use for oxidation.

I know that many people in the classic car scenes use M07 glaze to hide the oxidation on their car's paint.

I think M80 is one of the best products for light oxidation for a variety of reasons, including the fact that it has rich lubricating oils, like those found in M07, but M80 actually corrects and lubricates.

I had good results with M80 on an oxidized single stage car.

I used ColorX to revive my own single stage paint and a customer's oxidized clear coat with wonderful results. Work it into the paint sufficiently and you should be able to take care of most of the oxidation. My next step is to try M80 on my SS paint as see what happens.

I say just do Ultimate Compound, followed by Swirl-X, then either #7 Show Car Glaze or Deep Crystal 2 Polish, and top it off with NXT 2.0 or any other wax of your choice.

I understand it's a lot of steps, but you would only need to do this once for a very long time. So take you're time, don't rush each step, and once your done you'll be enjoying the results.

Detailers clean places nobody see. Detailer see's things nobody else see. But if you ask a Detailer to see how a dress looks on a woman, they are blind.
