maintain with APC, but when the dressing is really built up from using silicone dressing, I use Eagle One A2Z. Stuff just pulls out the dressing. Not very economical like Megs APC however.

Hmm interesting. I too had a hard time using APC+ on my gf's subaru. For some reason those dang tires catch a lot of dirt and gunk in just a month or so. On other tires, I'd just use APC+ and it cleans it perfect.

Looks like I have to pick up some Super Degreaser.

I generally use APC+ on tires, but for really, really nasty tires I have used the Super Degreaser and that stuff just melts the gunk right off the tires. Even without scrubbing you can see nasty stuff fall off of the tires.

A little light scrubbing, rinse it off, and voila, perfectly clean!

I think the foaming sprayer is what makes the difference when using APC on tires, for me anyways.

Used Purple Power today. I sprayed it on narrow setting on 5 circle passes. The second pass, there was brown just running off the tire. Then I followed up and scrubbed with a sponge/scrubber to remove what was built on different areas. Fantastic job. I used it at full strength.

Westley's Bleche-Wite does work great against tough tire dressings. Once tires are all cleaned up I use water base dressings to keep from having a tough time cleaning up.

I thought the point of the thread was that APC didn't work?

It does a reasonable job when used regularly and on things that aren't caked on from neglect, and on chemicals that are especially difficult to remove from the tire, but I think there's better-suited stuff out there .

Here is another vote for APC/ APC+. It is what I use 99% of the time to clean tires.

Btw, it's in a large rectangular-ish, white spray bottle . It's probably the only solid white spray bottle in the automotive care section. Easy to spot; hope it works.

Remember to coat tires liberally with WBW, let it sit for 2-3mins, then agitate with a brush, then spray off with water. Once the tires are dry, they will look very dry and just begging for a fresh application of dressing of your choice .

Stuff is like $3.50 for a large spray bottle, and can be had from any local auto store.

I have APC and APC+, but even at their strong dilutions, I don't find them effective enough at cutting away the nastiness.
Im gonna give this stuff a try tomorrow. I never had luck cutting through the Endurance Gel... I have way to much build up on my tires...

I too use APC(4:1) when cleaning tires. I always use a foaming sprayer though.

I don't know if anyone here finds this. If I get a sponge and use Hot Shine on my tyres and rub,I find it takes brown markings off the tyre and onto the sponge. Then I go around the tyres with a new sponge. Very rarely, have I ever tried cleaning them. They turn out fine.
