I have drilled/slotted rotors and over time the rust builds up in the slots which really takes away from their looks. Is it ok to use Hot Rims and a toothbrush to clear this rust? Any other better ideas?

I would think this would be a safe product for that application. The best thing to do would be to test in a small area, then rinse with water and soap. Allow to dry and then inspect. If it looks okay then your good to go. If it doesn't, then you'll be glad you only did a small area.
