What to use Before NXT 2.0

My car is about 9 months old and I have used numerous polishes and waxes on it. I will be claying it in about a week or two. It is dark gray. Question is: After claying do I put a polish on it before NXT (because nxt has polish) or do I just use NXT. Also if I need a polish which one for a relatively new car where I still don't see any visible swirl marks.

I would use a pure polish, which means it has not abrasives in it. But I really do not think you will need anything before hand.

The polishing step is optional with such a new car in good shape. As mentioned your best bet might be a pure polish such as #7 or Deep Crystal Step 2. If after claying you see a few light swirls you can step up to something more abrasive. Another choice would be #9. Fairly gentle but would do some very light correction and contains polishing oils.

As others have stated, applying a polish is a optional step. You will be fine if you just clay then wax.

I live on the west coast of Florida. I have found with our humid conditions, when I do apply polish, #5 works very well. It has to do with our humidity. I had a heck of a time the first time I used #7. Was told about #5 from a forum member. Tried it and it worked.

If after you clay...you see some swirls...you could also try Color X from the Consumer line. You can find it at most auto stores. I used it on my Saturn and then NXT 2.0 for fantastic results and lasting durability.

You can go straight to waxing right after you clay. An additional step is to follow up with a light paint cleaner after claying such as deep crystal paint cleaner, scratch x, or some of the mild polishes from the professional line. Then you could apply a pure polish on top of that.

I would try testing your approach on a small 1' by 1' area and see if you are happy with the results and if the end product is worth the extra time.

If your car paint is in a perfect condition after claying, then go direct to NXT 2.0,

but I would recommend you put a AIO cleaner before your wax :]... such as the cleaner/wax or the ColorX, because after claying, you still might have a few water spots, light oxidation or light swirls that needs to be cleaned from your paint... and then top it off with the NXT 2.0..

My personal regimen when doing a full detail:

1. Gold Class Wash
2. Smooth Surface Clay Kit
3. ColourX
4. NXT 2.0

ColourX is a cleaner/polish/wax all in one so it preps the paint for the NXT 2.0 and leaves a layer of wax behind. From there NXT 2.0 finishes off the car beautifully.
